Swan Lake Rome Tickets 2026

Swan Lake returns to Rome from 17 to 31 December 2026, bringing Tchaikovsky’s landmark ballet to Teatro Costanzi, the historic home of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Known in the Italian programme as Il lago dei cigni, this production features Benjamin Pech’s choreography, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Orchestra and Ballet Company, and internationally recognised guest dancers across selected performances. With 13 dates spanning the Christmas period through New Year’s Eve, audiences have several opportunities to see one of classical ballet’s defining works. Browse available Swan Lake Rome tickets, compare performance dates and choose your preferred seats at Teatro Costanzi.

Swan Lake at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma

For the 2026/27 season, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma brings back its own production of Swan Lake, choreographed by Benjamin Pech and conducted by Ido Arad. The staging features sets and costumes by Aldo Buti, lighting by Vinicio Cheli and the Étoiles, principal dancers, soloists and corps de ballet of the Rome company.

Tchaikovsky’s music accompanies the story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a princess transformed into a swan by a sorcerer’s spell. At the centre of the ballet is the demanding dual role of Odette and Odile, contrasting the lyricism of the White Swan with the dramatic precision of the Black Swan.

The production retains the elements that have made Swan Lake a reference point for classical ballet: the lakeside scenes of the corps de ballet, Siegfried and Odette’s pas de deux, the ballroom sequence and the famous Black Swan choreography.

International Guest Dancers in Rome

Several performances feature leading dancers from the international ballet scene.

Fumi Kaneko, Principal of The Royal Ballet in London, is scheduled to dance the double role of Odette/Odile on selected dates towards the end of the run. She is joined by Vadim Muntagirov, also a Principal of The Royal Ballet, as Prince Siegfried.

Muntagirov has a recent connection with this Rome production, having previously appeared in Swan Lake with Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and later during the company’s performances at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

Paul Marque, Étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet, also appears as a guest during the December run. Rome audiences have seen him previously with the company, including his appearance as Solor in La Bayadère.

The guest artists perform alongside the dancers of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, giving different dates within the run their own casting.

A Returning Rome Production

Benjamin Pech’s Swan Lake is not new to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma repertoire. The company has previously presented the production at Teatro Costanzi, and it returns in 2026 as one of the major ballet titles of the festive season.

Its revival also continues the company’s recent relationship with dancers such as Vadim Muntagirov, while bringing new casting combinations to the Rome stage.

Rather than a visiting touring company, audiences will see a Teatro dell’Opera di Roma production, performed with its orchestra and ballet ensemble alongside the invited guest principals.

Swan Lake at Teatro Costanzi

The performances take place at Teatro Costanzi, commonly known as Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Opened in the late 19th century, the theatre remains the company’s principal venue for opera and ballet in the Italian capital.

Seeing Swan Lake here places Tchaikovsky’s ballet within a traditional opera-house setting, with a full orchestra accompanying the dancers throughout the production.

Its central Rome location also makes the December performances convenient for visitors combining the ballet with a stay in the historic centre during the festive period.
