AS Roma host Inter at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Milan and Rome pull in opposite directions: finance and fashion up north, empire and easy living down here. In September that contrast lands at the Stadio Olimpico, with the rest of a Roman weekend spread out around it. Few Serie A fixtures sit so naturally inside a short city break.
The Stadio Olimpico is the largest stadium in Rome and one of the great arenas of European football. The Curva Sud is the heart of the Roma support: the singing starts long before kick-off, and on a full matchday the wall of red and yellow behind the goal is one of the most recognisable sights in Italian football.
Getting there is straightforward: tram 2 from Piazzale Flaminio to Piazza Mancini, or metro line A to Ottaviano and a walk across the Tiber. Matchday traffic around the Foro Italico is heavy, so allow extra time.
